New investigation: The shocking link between fashion and fracking
In December 2024, Changing Markets Foundation supported an investigation by Stand.earth that revealed a concerning link between the fashion industry and oil and gas fracking in Texas. The investigation uncovered that 107 major fashion brands—including well-known names like Adidas, Lululemon, Zara, and Uniqlo—sourced fabrics from suppliers involved in fracking operations in the Permian Basin, recognised as the highest potential emissions source of any oil- and gas-related “carbon bomb” globally.
A Christmas message Nestlé can’t ignore
In December, we delivered an early Christmas gift to Nestlé’s new CEO, Laurent Freixe, at its UK HQ — some essential reading for his leadership journey: The New Merchants of Doubt and Net-Zero Integrity. Nestlé’s emissions in 2022 were nearly three times those of Switzerland, with 96.4% coming from its supply chain — largely from industrial dairy and livestock farming. If Nestlé wants to be a sustainability leader, it must tackle its methane problem head-on.
We’re calling on Nestlé to adopt a clear methane reduction target and take real climate responsibility. Add your voice — when we reach 100,000 signatures, we’ll take this message straight to Nestlé’s doorstep.

The greenwash corner
We have our first greenwashing entry of 2025: Ivy’s Reserve Carbon Neutral Cheese: Not a Ched of Truth. Think that “carbon neutral” label means you’re making a sustainable choice? Think again. Ivy’s Reserve leans heavily on carbon offsets instead of actually reducing emissions. This misleads consumers and does little to address the real climate impact of dairy.
